Summary of Aggregated Data
UPDATE!
Data from the EPC medical event survey has been published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) Quality & Safety. This article represent 5 years of data collection and over a year of analysis and writing by a team of advocates including Dr. Frederick Southwick, Nicole Cranley and Dr. Julia Hallisy. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to all of the individuals who took the time to complete our very detailed survey and who shared their very personal and often painful experiences with us. Our goal of adding each new voice to those of others to have a greater impact has been realized.

In the spirit of transparency, The Empowered Patient Coalition regularly releases graph summaries of aggregated data from our medical harm reporting survey. Please note that a significant number of patients who experience medical harm encounter more than one type of event so the number of incidents reported is greater than the number of individual respondents.
We have chosen to release the data in the categories listed below.
Please check regularly for updated statistics as we are actively collecting data in this ongoing survey.
