The Empowered Patient Coalition provides resources enabling patients to take control of their medical treatments.

The Empowered Patient Coalition's advocate directory is a listing of selected nonprofit organizations and individuals working to improve quality and safety in healthcare. While we include a number of sites that contain clinical information for patients, the organizations and individuals in the directory are largely citizen advocates who are not part of the healthcare system proper.

There are many ways to approach the problems of our healthcare system, and it is worth noting that opinions within the patient advocacy community can and do vary broadly and intensely. The advocate directory is presented solely as a resource for patients and friends of patients. The appearance of a website on this page does not imply endorsement or agreement of any sort by The Empowered Patient Coalition or any other organization or individual on the list.

Please note that our list includes only those organizations or individuals who either operate under the umbrella of official nonprofit status or who do not sell products or services or take donations in any form.  There are many patient organizations that do not meet these criteria.  For an independent listing that includes organizations and websites other than nonprofits, we refer you to www.advocatedirectory.org.
