“A Voice for Patients " has been designed to educate patients and consumers (potential users of the healthcare system) on the national epidemic of healthcare error. The site offers informative on-line resources for consumers; including an extensive list of disease specific organizations offering support and education for patients and their families, as well as resources that enable consumers to research medical conditions and browse on-line medical dictionaries. These resources are not a substitute for the expertise of trained clinicians… Also included are resources for the victims of medical error, surviving family members and patient advocates. May we never lose sight of the real consequence of medical mistakes; those injured. |
